Two main tyeps of 3D printing in construction industry

After more than 30 years of development, 3D printing technology has become more and more popular. One of the most exciting applications of 3D printing technology is in the construction industry. 3D printing is now being used to construct entire homes, office buildings, and other structures.
3D-printed buildings can span thousands of square feet and multiple stories, and they can be made with lower costs and less waste than traditionally constructed buildings.
This revolutionary technology has huge market potential and could even revolutionize the traditional construction industry in the near future.
There are two main methods of 3D printing in construction.
1. Robotic arm or contour crafting
This is the most common solution for 3D printing buildings at present. The structural integrity of the material has been verified, and there are many successful cases at home and abroad.
This technology is the same as the common FDM 3D printing, except that the material is changed from common wire to concrete.
Machines are generally divided into gantry type and robotic arm type.
The former is to move the printing head through the frame guide rail, within the scope of the track, the structure is built layer by layer by extruding concrete materials from the nozzle.
2. Sand
This method is often used in the foundry industry. Through binder jetting (3DP) 3D printing sand mold technology, sand molds can be printed directly without molds to make casting products.
But the technique, which is also being used in architectural 3D printing, was first developed in Italy to deposit sand in very fine layers, with each layer then jetted with a binder to form a solid.
The process is more labor-intensive and time-intensive than concrete 3D printing, but has the advantage of being more suitable for use in hotter and drier countries.
