Material selection for cnc machining steel parts:
stainless steel 303
303 also contains sulfur. This sulfur helps make 303 the most manageable stainless steel, but it also tends to reduce corrosion resistance somewhat.
303 is not suitable for cold forming (bending) and cannot be heat treated. The presence of sulfur also means that it is not suitable for welding. It has excellent machinability, but care must be taken with the speed, feed, and sharpness of the cutting tool.
303 is typically used for stainless steel nuts and bolts, fittings, shafts and gears. However, do not use with marine grade attachments.
stainless steel 304
It is the most common stainless steel alloy with good mechanical properties and good machinability. It can withstand most environmental conditions and aggressive media.
It is the most common form of stainless steel found in a variety of consumer and industrial products. Commonly known as 18/8, it refers to adding 18% chromium and 8% nickel to the most common form of stainless steel.
304 is very hard, non-magnetic, easily machinable, and generally corrosion resistant, making it ideal for kitchen fittings, storage tanks, and plumbing for the industrial, construction, and automotive industries.
304 is easy to machine, but unlike 303, it can be welded. It is also more resistant to corrosion in most normal (non-chemical) environments. For machinists, very sharp cutting tools are used to prevent contamination from other metals.
stainless steel 316
This is another common stainless steel alloy with the same mechanical properties as 304. Generally considered marine grade stainless steel, it is strong and easy to weld. This material is highly resistant to corrosion and salt solutions such as seawater are ideal for construction, marine fittings, industrial plumbing, and automotive applications.
stainless steel 2205
Stainless Steel 2205 Duplex Stainless Steel is the strongest stainless steel alloy (twice as strong as other common stainless steel alloys) and has excellent corrosion resistance. Used in harsh environments, it has many applications in the oil and gas industry.
17-4 stainless steel
The mechanical properties of 17-4 stainless steel (SAE 630 grade) are comparable to 304. Its higher precipitation hardenability and better chemical resistance compared to tool steel make it suitable for high performance applications such as turbine blade manufacturing.
tool steel
Tool steels are metal alloys with very high hardness, stiffness, wear resistance and heat resistance. They are used to make manufacturing tools such as dies, stamps and dies (hence the name). Heat treatment is required to achieve good mechanical properties.
Carbide milling tool steel D2 is a wear-resistant alloy that retains its hardness at temperatures of 425°C. D2 steel is an air-hardened, high-carbon, high-chromium tool steel with excellent wear resistance. It is heat treatable and has a wide range of hardness. D2 steel is ideal for making parts and products that are easy to bend but need to be bent.
Tool Steel A2 is an air-hardening general-purpose tool steel with excellent high temperature toughness and dimensional stability. Usually used to make injection molds.
Tool Steel O1 is a high hardness oil hardening alloy with a hardness of 65HRC. Usually used for knives and cutting tools.
low carbon steel
Also known as low carbon steel, it has excellent mechanical properties, good machinability and excellent weldability. Due to its low cost, it can be used for general purpose applications such as manufacturing machine parts, jigs and fixtures. Mild steel is susceptible to corrosion and chemical attack. commonly used
mild steel 1018
Mild steel 1018 is a general purpose alloy with excellent toughness, strength, hardness, and excellent machinability and weldability. The most commonly used low carbon steel alloy.
carbon steel 1045
This strong material is mild steel, not stainless steel, and is usually cheaper than stainless steel, but stronger. Materials can be hardened and heat treated to facilitate machining and welding. Most commonly used in industrial and mechanical parts requiring high toughness and strength, such as nuts and bolts, gears, shafts and connecting rods. It is also used in construction, but is often surface treated to prevent it from rusting when exposed to the environment.
mild steel A36
Mild steel A36 is a general purpose structural steel with excellent weldability. Suitable for a variety of industrial and architectural applications

FAQ:
Q1.How do you deal with the surface roughness you encounter during machining?
A:We must first analyze the causes of surface roughness, mainly including: tool marks caused by milling; thermal deformation or plastic deformation caused by cutting separation; friction between the tool and the machined surface.
Q2. How do you produce and machine deformable parts?
A: The easily deformable parts represented by thin-walled parts can adopt the form of high-speed machining with small feed rate and large cutting speed to reduce the cutting force on the workpiece during processing, and at the same time make most of the cutting heat fly away from the chips of the workpiece at high speed. Take away, thereby reducing the temperature of the workpiece and reducing the thermal deformation of the workpiece.
Q3.What aspects will affect my price
A:The material you want, the finish, the tolerances you want, and the appearance you want.
