Machining that changes the shape and performance of a workpiece with a processing machine. It is divided into cold working and hot working according to the temperature condition of the workpiece to be processed. Commonly referred to as cold working, which is processed at normal temperature and does not cause chemical or phase changes in the workpiece. In general, processing at temperatures higher or lower than room temperature causes chemical or phase changes in the workpiece. This is called heat treatment. Cold working can be divided into cutting and pressure working depending on the processing method. Common heat treatments include heat treating, forging, casting and welding.

Precision machining is performed under strictly controlled environmental conditions using precision machine tools and precision measuring tools and gauges. Its processing accuracy reaches 0.1 microns, and is called ultra-precision processing.

Here, we introduce the five major processes of precision machining.
1.Part geometry and mutual position accuracy can reach micron or arc second level.
2. Sub-micron part boundary or feature size tolerances.
3. Part surface micro-roughness (average height difference of surface roughness) shall be less than 0.1 micron.
4. Mutual fittings can meet power matching requirements;
5. Some parts can also meet requirements for precise mechanics or other physical properties, such as torsional stiffness of float gyroscope torsion bars, stiffness coefficients of flexible elements.
