In actual injection molding, one mold and multiple cavities are often used to produce plastic products to improve production efficiency. Unbalanced filling often occurs in one mold with multiple cavities. The following introduces the unbalanced filling of multiple cavities and the unbalanced filling of single cavity with multiple gates.

Unbalanced filling of multiple cavities
According to the geometric layout of the multi-cavity mold, its gating system is divided into two types: balanced arrangement and unbalanced arrangement. The non-balanced arrangement gating system needs to be manually balanced, that is, under the condition of certain forming process parameters, the melt can fill each cavity at the same time by adjusting the size of the runner and gate to achieve filling balance.
For a gating system with a balanced arrangement, the flow distance from the melt to each cavity is equal, that is, each cavity is geometrically symmetrical, and if the manufacturing error is ignored, the filling process should be naturally balanced, that is, no matter how the forming conditions change, each type Both cavities should be filled simultaneously. But the actual situation is not like this, and often the inner cavity close to the sprue is filled first.

In actual production, in order to shorten the injection cycle and improve production efficiency, a higher injection speed is often used to fill the product. The root of solving the problem of unbalanced filling in the natural balance multi-cavity injection mold is to improve or eliminate the unevenness of the melt temperature distribution in the flow plane in the runner. symmetry.

Unbalanced cavity filling
When the product adopts multiple gates, the filling imbalance will also occur in the cavity due to the layout of the gates.

Sink mark, shrinkage cavity
Sink marks are partial collapses on the surface of the product, also known as dents, shrinkage pits, and settlement spots. Shrinkage cavities are hollows inside the product.
Reasons for formation:
Material:
Shrinkage is too large.
Mold:
1. The design of the product is unreasonable, and the wall thickness of the product is too large or uneven;
2. The position of the gate is unreasonable;
3. The gate is too small;
4. Mold cooling is uneven.
Injection molding machine:
1. The non-return ring, screw or plunger are severely worn, and the injection pressure cannot be transmitted to the cavity, resulting in insufficient material supply;
2. Leakage of molten material occurs during injection and pressure holding, which reduces the filling pressure and material volume, resulting in insufficient material supply.
